Our tour guides running the tours are all experienced PNG Nationals with extensive experience guiding tours ensuring the highest level of customer service and passenger experience. All of our experiences are very popular and we therefore recommend bookings are made well in advanced either online or when boarding your cruise ship to save disappointment. GLASS BOTTOM BOAT TOUR

Don’t be fooled by the name, the Conflict Islands are possibly the most peaceful place on Earth. They are also home to one of the world’s most biodiverse reef systems. And the easiest way to explore some of the best coral in the world is onboard a glass bottom boat.

Stay dry and relax under the shaded canopy as you watch the brilliant underwater world pass by beneath you. You’ll see a huge range of brightly coloured corals teeming with exotic fish and marine life. Your friendly tour guide will provide commentary on what you are seeing along the way.

OUTRIGGER SAILING CANOE RIDE

Take a step back in time to the days of great Pacific Ocean voyages and glide across the crystal-clear waters on a traditionally-built outrigger sailing canoe.

The traditional outrigger sailing canoe, locally named ‘Sailau’, plays a huge part in the lives of Milne Bay locals and up until 2000, these canoes were the main means of transport in the region. Throughout history, they were widely-used in ceremonies and rituals and meticulously crafted from special woods, all under strict custom to derive the best results and appease the gods.

CONFLICT ISLANDS CRUISE

The Conflict Islands atoll is made up of 21, uninhabited, pristine tropical islands surrounded by a spectacular lagoon. It’s one of the most remote locations in the Coral Sea so you’re guaranteed to feel a million miles away from everyday life as you enjoy a scenic cruise around some of the islands in this beautiful, untouched corner of the world. Keep a look out for some of the islands marine inhabitants including turtles, dolphins and mantas rays playing in the pristine tropical waters.

Onboard the 80-foot Undersea Explorer, you can relax on the shaded top deck and bow or in the air-conditioned lounge while listening to informative commentary about the islands and the history of Milne Bay region. whilst enjoying complimentary drinks and snacks which include a freshly prepared local fresh fruit platter, home cooked banana bread and muffins, fruit juice, and of course tea, coffee and water.

Enjoy a short speed boat ride across the Conflict Islands atoll to a your own private beach, well away from the crowds. It’s will be a wonderful stereotype of the classic castaway island where white sand is shaded by coconut trees and lapped by crystal-clear tropical water. Enjoy stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling or just swimming in the warm azure waters. Once settled, unpack your custom picnic including fresh island fruit, coconuts, prawns, a cheese-and-cracker platter, and sparkling white wine.

Private Beach Picnic Tour

TURTLE CONSERVATION TOUR

Take a tour of the Turtle Nursery where you will meet our adorable baby turtle hatchlings and be given the chance to interact and hand feed them using our specialised hatchling turtle formula. Our Turtle Rehabilitation and Conservation Team will provide informative commentary about the turtles and the important work done by the Conflict Island Conservation Initiative. You can also get involved in the conservation initiative yourself by adopting and naming your own turtle.

Turtle Conservation Tour

REEF SNORKEL TOUR

Duration: 1 hr 15 mins

Welcome to the one of the most biodiverse marine ecosystems in the world – it’s safe to say, the snorkelling here is going to be pretty special. Join your local snorkel guide fora swim around the reef, pointing out the resident marine life including brightly coloured corals, exotic fish and maybe even a sea turtle or reef shark. You are also welcome to explore the reef at your own leisure. The custom-built swim platform, equipped with steps and ladders, provides easy access to and from the incredible underwater world. A lifeguard will keep watch from the 3-metre tower on the platform, so you can relax and focus on the amazing marine life.

Take a guided dive around one of the amazing dive sites at the Conflict Islands. Located in the pristine waters of The Coral Sea, the Conflict Islands comprise of 21 untouched islands and boast the most extensive biodiversity and coral reefs in the world. With a third of the world’s species of marine fish, the Conflict Islands are home to everything from the tiny ghost pipe fish to the huge manta rays. The 21 uninhabited tropical islands surround a spectacular lagoon and are currently under consideration for a World Heritage Marine Site. Among the group of islands, Irai island has been found to have the second best coral in the world with the most number of species noted in a single dive – a divers absolute dream!
